New piece of song!

Wrote a song last week and started working on the arrangements this week. It’s for a competition which I’ll be entering with my senior, Tiffany.

There’s no lyrics yet (Tiffany will be writing it), hence it shall be titled Sample Song 1.

Talking about lyrics, I still have to work an a song for Charlotte and Saiful’s thesis video! It’s like 1/4 written already. Not forgetting a christmas song that I intend to send in to ListenIn! Won’t be able to work on it this weekend due to me booking in on a Sunday for Live Firing.

Guess I’ll have to start both on the next weekend!

2 more weeks to end of Foundation Term!

New headphones!

Got a birthday present from my cousins and aunts!

It’s an AKG Q460 (White)!
I bet it’s expensive!

Super cool, much better than my Sony MDR-V150 (which only costs me less than $40…)

Though I’m pretty sure it’s not meant for studio mixing, but still, it’s audio quality is really good!

Who doesn’t love birthday presents?!

Put it to the test!

Got a nanoPad2 yesterday, a birthday gift from my mum.

Put it to the test by creating a piece of drum music. It’s called Ethnic Drums (cause I used ethnic drums and hence the title).

And here’s the results:

  • Easy to use
  • Pads are comfortable on the finger tips
  • Pad’s sensitivity is pretty good
  • Can be used not only for drums, but for synth as well due to it’s Hold and Gate ARP functions
  • Have yet to use the X-Y touchpad
  • All 4 scenes does not cover the full 88 keyboard
  • I have yet to figure out how to assign the notes on the pads (I managed to assign them, but it does not seem to save the newly assigned notes on each pad)

Overall, it’s pretty decent for a price less than a 100 bucks which comes with a couple of free softwares + a voucher for ableton live products!

Do check it out at the Instrumentals page under Portfolio!

Still have yet to improve on my drumming skills…

New toy!

Finished field camp!

Have to admit that out of all 4 days, it only rained once!

Day 1 was navigation, which they called it Wanderer (cause you’ll see people wandering around an island as if they’re lost, some were really lost). Navigation was tiring, but quite fun and interesting (if only they allowed us to walk without weapons and LBV…)

Day 2 and 3 was section battle and harbouring training. It was pretty fun to fight as a section, but it took me some time to remember to steps for the different types of fire movements and assault! Harbouring was nothing much, except we gotta dig shell scrapes and build a defense position.

Day 4 (last day) was our section battle test! Very tiring as you’ll have to move around and fight with weapons and you have to take on different roles at different times! Nearly got heat exhaustion yet again! Overall, it was interesting but lucky for us, it didn’t rain much!

Anyway, I got a new equipment. The KORG nanoPAD2. Consider it a birthday present from my mum.

Total damage to her wallet : $76.50

Here’s some pic of my nanoPad2:

My Birthday’s coming up!

Field camp next week…

Google Image

As what the title mentions, I’m gonna have my field camp next week. For all those who don’t know, field camp is not a picnic trip! It’s a form of training where you and your platoon mates (mates in the military), go out into the forest/jungle/etc… to camp for a couple of days or even weeks! You’ll be having your activities like live firing, battle formations, etc.

Since it’s the monsoon season, expect more rainy days ahead! Which also means I’ll be camping in the rain…soaking wet…cold…

And NO, I won’t be enjoying the rain like that girl in the picture above. My officers will think I’m mad if I start doing that during trainings!

But anyway, on the brighter side, finished the piece which I mentioned in the previous posts, Far Away.

Do check it out under Instrumentals at the Portfolio page!

No one looks forward to field camps.
